To Place a Valve to an Existing Component

  1. Select a valve option from the Valves gallery.
  2. Select an insertion point on a Pipe Run.
  3. If more than one record exists in the specification for the valve, the Spec Record Selection dialog displays.
  4. Select the desired valve from the list and click OK.
  5. The Place Component dialog displays.
  6. Select a Placement Point to use when placing the valve.
  7. Expand the Properties section of the dialog.
  8. Accept the default tag number, or enter a new value if required.
  9. Make any necessary changes to the component properties in the corresponding fields.
  10. Select an insertion point for the valve using one of the following scenarios:
    • Snap to the open port of an existing component.
    • Select an existing pipe length then a specific location along the pipe for the valve.
  11. Optional: The Spec Record Selection displays when it is necessary to specify gasket and bolt types for the joint connections. Select the desired record and click OK to continue.
  12. Optional: If the valve requires an operator, you may be prompted to select an orientation for the operator. Pick a point in the drawing to define the orientation, or right-click to place the valve without an operator. The operator can be added later if desired.
  13. One the valve is placed, right-click to end the command.
